Why Spitzingsee?

No city camp – real nature, real tranquillity, real adventure

Spitzingsee lies at an altitude of 1,084 metres in the Bavarian Alps – surrounded by mountain peaks, forests and crystal-clear water. For young people familiar with city camps: everything is different here.

1,084 metres above the hustle and bustle of everyday life

The camp is situated right on the shores of Lake Spitzing – one of Bavaria’s most beautiful mountain lakes. It is surrounded by Alpine meadows, forests and mountain peaks. The fresh mountain air and the tranquillity help you to study and switch off.

Scouting spirit meets a modern camp

Hikes, climbing, campfires, team games in the woods – the leisure programme is reminiscent of a scout camp, but with modern facilities: its own climbing wall, sports hall, and a school residence by the lake.

Nature enhances learning

Studies show that learning in nature reduces stress and improves concentration. The mountain air, the tranquillity and the sense of community make German the most natural part of the day.

What participants say

★★★★★

‘Spitzingsee is simply magical. Learning German in the mornings with a view of the Alps, climbing or swimming in the lake in the afternoons, and campfires with friends from different countries in the evenings. I was there for two weeks and didn’t want to go home at the end.’

Frequently Asked Questions – Munich Spitzingsee

What parents ask us

My child is a beginner – can they still take part?

Unfortunately, this isn’t suitable for absolute beginners (A0). The Spitzingsee camp is for students from level A1.2 upwards. For absolute beginners, we recommend our programmes in Munich city centre, Heidelberg or Berlin – these offer beginner courses with fixed start dates. We’d be happy to advise you on which programme is right for you.

What is the level of support like in such a remote location?

The camp offers 24-hour supervision by experienced educational staff. All outdoor activities are supervised by qualified instructors. There is always an emergency contact number available for parents and children. The somewhat secluded location has been chosen deliberately – it fosters the sense of community that makes Spitzingsee so special.

Does my child need any special equipment for outdoor activities?

Sturdy walking boots and weatherproof clothing are recommended – the weather in the Alps can change quickly. The camp will provide the necessary equipment for climbing and other activities.

What are the accommodation options like?

Your child will be staying in the school residence right on the shores of Lake Spitzing – in 3- or 4-bed rooms with en-suite bathrooms and showers. Full board is included: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please state any allergies when registering.

How does my child get to the camp?

The nearest airport is Munich (MUC). Airport transfers are available on request: 120 € one way (Sundays, 8:00 AM–10:00 PM), extra transfer 310 €. For unaccompanied minors (UM): +50 €.

Is insurance included?

Yes – health, luggage and third-party liability insurance are all included in the camp price. This is particularly important when taking part in outdoor activities in the Alps.

What happens if we have to cancel?

Our cancellation policy is fair and transparent.

If you cancel more than 2 weeks before arrival, a €200 administration fee will apply – the remaining amount will be refunded. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before arrival, further charges will apply – we’ll be happy to explain these to you in person before you book.

n – wir erklären sie dir gerne persönlich bevor du buchst.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes – if you’re registering several siblings at the same time, please ask about our sibling discount when you make your enquiry.
