In Hamburg you can choose between the following Intensive German language courses:

>> Course 20h (Hamburg 2) and Course 25h (Hamburg 1)
Each group consists of a maximum of 12 students. The program includes 4 or 5 lessons per day of 45 minutes each, which are given entirely in German. The emphasis is placed on conversation. As the contents are reasonably flexible, students are welcome to make suggestions for topics of conversation. Grammar is taught in context. In the school Hamburg 2 (summer school) written explanations of grammar points are available in English and Spanish to aid your understanding.

>> One-to-One lessons
This individual course is aimed at all those who want to improve their linguistic competence in a particularly effective way and in the shortest possible time. At the beginning of the course your teacher will help you to choose your programme. You can also decide how many hours a week you wish to book, or even ask to share your course with another student. Private lessons can also be taken in addition to other courses.

European Language Certificate: Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf

This course is perfect for people who wish to work in Germany or for a German company abroad (in a senior clerical or a middle management position), who wish to do business with Germany in general or who wish to do an internship or a work placement in Germany.

The main focus of this intensive course Deutsch für den Beruf is the practice and the competent handling of all business related situations in the German language. Target is the written and oral communication in offices - whether it is an office of a publicity or tourist agency, an office in a factory, an authority office or trading or import - export office. Participants can handle professional situations, negotiate with their colleagues, business partners and clients, understand and formulate business letters, faxes and emails, understand relevant texts (like newspaper articles, advertisements, statistics, interviews etc) and understand German cultural characteristic.
 

The exam Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf is international fully recognized and improves the participants chances in the job market and the qualification in general. The certificate is part of the course and is included in the course price. Students need an intermediate level 2 (B2) or the Zertifikat Deutsch.

CONTENT
Oral and written preparation of the exam Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf with the following main points: company and personal profile / corporate identity, presentations and exhibitions, commercial correspondence, enquiry, offer, order, distribution, production, marketing, contracts, negotiations, telephoning etc.

The course takes place only three times per year. The minimum knowledge of German (finished A2 level) is an important condition of participation - therefore a placement test is needed when registering. If you do not have a B2 level, we will advice you the approximate number of weeks of participation in the General German intensive course 5x5 (25 lessons/week) to reach this level.

Course levels and assessment

The following descriptions of the various course levels will assist you in judging your own level of ability. You are asked to indicate your level on the enrolment form. On the first day of the course you will be given a placement test, the results of which will be discussed with you in detail. It is still possible to change courses at a later stage, if necessary. Intermediate levels such as A/B, B/C, ... are also possible.

Level A (Beginners):
This course is designed for absolute beginners. Basic vocabulary and grammar structures are taught which should enable you after a short time to cope with everyday German life and to react in important situations.

Level B (Advanced I):
This course is for students with some previous knowledge of the German language. The student's vocabulary is extended so that he or she can master everyday situations. The important indicative tenses are also dealt with.

(Advanced II):
Students should have a good knowledge of the German language. In grammar the indicative tenses are revised and the most important forms of the subjunctive are dealt with. The emphasis is on being able to express oneself fluently.

Level D (Perfection Course):
This course is intended for those who would like to perfect their use of German and revise the finer points of grammar. They learn to express themselves at a elevated level and at the same time to understand and use a large number of the countless idioms, including local ones.
